Hugging and Mullets

My friends Tim and Jon showed up at church with mullets this weekend.

It was perhaps the greatest thing I’d seen in a long, long time. While my friend Tim looked funny with a mullet and handlebar mustache, my friend Jon looked uncomfortably accurate. Jon hails from Green Bay, Wisconsin, where the Wal-Marts are filled with men looking like he did:

That Elusive Wisconsin Look

Here’s a shot of them trying to look tough while standing next to flowers:
Going Sleddin\'

I think the flowers finally got to them here:
It comes to this...

The mix of sweltering masculinity and latent homosexuality in that last picture has seared its imagery permanently into my brain. I fear that I will walk the earth for the rest of my days seeing Jon and Tim affectionately touching each other with their mullets flared like a lion’s mane.

Maybe I should start growing a mullet. I suddenly feel strangely compelled…

I would like to point out that Tim is attacking me in that last picture. But I do think the flowers had an affect on me as I am smiling and not trying too hard to get away.

Yeah Jon, you look like you’re really loving it. I bet you’ve been looking longingly at that picture ever since you first saw it.

    Mr. Welle:

My lawyers will be contacting you soon regarding the great personal injury that you have caused me. I come to this site expecting awkward humor, and instead, I get the pain and suffering of seeing awkward latent homosexuality amongst mullets.

The only way that you’re getting off light is that none of them are wearing A-shirts.

I am soooooo sad. I moved all the way to Ohio to find a big strong hunka hunka burning love with the sporty yet classy mullet hair cut(they are rampant here) and alas, two fine looking males have brought the look to Minneapolis… Oh woe is me, to be back at the Rock and have the best of both worlds…

    Geeze.

That is so forked up. John looks painfully “real-to-mullet” in that photo.

  6. Alexis says:

I have to say, I did get some sort of strange statisfaction doing the “home-Perm” on Jon. Not to be prideful, but I do think Maren and I did a nice job doing the pincurls. =) Way to go boys.

I love it that Jon and Tim’s mullets have been immortalized here!! I’m curious about what Jen would have to say about this public display of mulletdom.

  8. Adam says:

All I know is that Alexis never comments on my blog, and it makes me weep endlessly through the night :-(

  9. peter says:

Nice job on those mullets, Alexis. Were you trying to send a hint to anybody in particular about what hairstyles you might prefer? :)

  10. Adam says:

I think Alexis secretly wants Doug to have a mullet and wear a T-shirt with the sleves ripped off. He would be one hot guitar player if he did that.

  11. Alexis says:

Adam – Perhaps your last comment is the reason why I don’t comment on your blog……

Peter – No, I’m not trying to send any hints to anyone about particular hairstyles I prefer. But thanks for asking. =)

  12. Jamie says:

    Adam-

add that to your awkward pipe and smoke it

  13. Adam says:

    Alexis:

Man, you’re a blog snob! Not good enough for ya, huh?

  14. Alexis says:

no, just teasing you adam. Have a great night! I promise to comment on your blog soon…..I meant to comment the other day as you are my favorite acquiantence at the Rock. Loveya alexis.
