Cranial Waste

I’m good at Trivial Pursuit.

I’m not sure how I feel about this fact. I enjoy playing it, but I’m troubled at how the answers to our society’s pointless minutiae flow effortlessly from my tongue. Should I feel proud of this? Is it evidence that I have a passing understanding of everything from world history to celebrity gossip, but no deeper knowledge of any subject?

If only this knowledge were of some consequence. Alas, it is largely irrelevant and futile; unable to make my life any happier or more satisfying. Sort of like being awesome at volleyball.

And that, in a nutshell is my entire existence. A hollow collection of worthless tidbits signifying nothing.

It’s a good thing I brought my vodka with me to work today.

This would not be America if we wasted our time filling our mind with useful and relevant things, Peter.

  2. scott says:

what version of TP would you be referring to? i don’t think knowing the star wars version backwards and forwards is anything to be embarrassed about.

  3. peter says:

Very true Scott, particularly the knowledge that Princess Leia was being held on level three, detention block 1138.

  4. Roger says:

    I like volleyball.

  5. peter says:

    Shut up, Roger.

  6. Chris says:

The princess was held in detention block AA23, in cell 2187, which is adjacent to garbage disposal #3263827. This knowledge has failed to secure me any dates in the last two months.

  7. peter says:

Chris, you called me out on this one. I was pulling that crap out of my butt.

  8. Sarah says:

I was going to say Leia was in cell 2187. Chris beat me to it. There’s nothing wrong with being a sci-fi junkie. Shout out that trivia loud and proud!
