The Larroquette Connection

I recently received a polite, humorous email from the actor John Larroquette wondering about the origins of the name of this website.

After doing a bit of research to determine that this actually was the real John Larroquette, I quickly responded, assuring the Stripes actor that there was no slight intended by my URL. I informed him that it was intended to be merely a prohibitively long web address meant to deter dullards and the fingerless.

Now, I have never actually shared the origins of this website’s name, and that was not about to change. I hinted at it to Mr. Larroquette, while still clutching my cards to my chest. I told him that johnlarroquetteproject.com is simply what was typed when I allowed a feral cat to run roughshod on a keyboard surrounded by a wire cage. Unlikely, to be sure, but I’m betting that he fell for it.

My other potential lie was that “johnlarroquetteproject.com” were the dying words of my grandfather, Victor Welle, when he passed away in 1994. This had the unfortunate combination of being both implausible and distasteful.

Any other ideas for what I could have told him?

Psychological disorder in which you compulsively name everything in your life after cast members of Night Court?

BTW, a friend of mine visited the site only once, only to leave in bitter disappointment over the lack of anything about Larroquette.

  2. Adam says:

You could have said “What are you talking about? I AM John Larroquett!”

  3. Richard Moll says:

Wait. John Larroquette reads this. Hey, John, it’s me, Richard… Would it kill you to @#$%^&^ call once in a while?

In related news, I’m changing my blog name to theangelinajolieproject.com

  5. Thom says:

Man…maybe we should all change our blog names to celebrity names.

    I call dibs on thePatHarringtonJrproject.org

did he tell you what he thought of your writings? was he happy to be associated by such things? you should post the email.

and moll, what the hell have you been doing the last 15 years you loser! no wonder john doesn’t call you!

  7. Thom says:

Throughout the 90s Richard did a lot of voice work in animation. He also has appeared on shows such as Dr Quinn Medicine Woman and Smallville. He also lives in the crawlspace beneath my apartment.

  8. Richard Moll says:

    Scott,

I was in “Monkey Business”, you son of a bitch!

And Thom, I am not living in the crawlspace underneath you apartment, I am crashing there for awhile until things settle down and I can look for my own place…

listen to yourself moll! to go from working with the great harry anderson to living in someone’s crawlspace! how the mighty (if you can call yourself mighty) have fallen. the humanity! at least john larroquette had his own show after night court tanked. it seems everyone on night court vaporized except for JL. no wonder peter chose him for a blog.

Why, Markie Post had a lucritive career in Lifetime TV Movies (and an appearance in There Is Something About Mary). Marsha Warfield has appeared on every UPN Urban Sit Com. She had a recurring role on Empty est as well. Charles P. Robinson has been on House and Still Standing (and even appeared on the John Larroquette Show!).

Selma Diamond has a pretty valid reason for not appearing in much after Night Court. Outside of Tupac and Biggie death is a career killer.

    Scott-

Johnny really poured his heart out in his email to me. Out of respect for the great man, I’m going to refrain from posting his email.

And Moll, you’d better watch it! You know you have explosive personality disorder…

  12. Richard Moll says:

You take that back, Scott. I am comic gold! Comic gold!

  13. Kat says:

Man I miss Night Court. I liked Phil the bum and that guy that went on to play Data in Star Trek.

I always wondered about the name of your site. I have a fan site for John and while searching for links I came upon your website. I like him in Night Court and some other movies that I’ve seen him in. Great that John contacted you.
