Happiness and Grizzliness for All

Bridgette and I had a lovely time over the weekend, spending Saturday and Sunday with my family for Easter. Smiles were exchanged, hugs were welcomed, and gut-rot from massive cookie consumption was present.

On Sunday, after church, we gathered for this picture, celebrating our familial warmth and glad tidings.

You will note the bountiful haircut of my brother Patrick. He lives in Colorado and works with the National Forest Service fighting forest fires. Hidden away in a secluded cabin deep in the woods, he has taken on a glorious, Chewbacca-like appearance.

This new look was greeted with rousing shouts of approval, hearty slaps on the back, and unsubtle questions from my mom regarding the scheduling of his next haircut. His beard made my beard look flaccid and shameful. Truly, he is brave enough to take his facial hair to its full, logical conclusion.

Perhaps someday, I too will display the iron will of my younger brother and let it all hang out. Until that day, I’ll be stuck with a trimmed beard and groomed hair like a freaking idiot.

The dog looks really fricken pissed….like he wants to bury his head and provide a surgical procedure to someone’s boys.

you and your brother should sign up for 2007… i think i’ve got my wife to reluctantly agree to letting me do it in exchange for increased household chores and the occasional trip to a national park of her choice.

His beard makes Bruce Willis look like my sweaty raggedy socks after a long and tenuous basketball game. I am glad I don’t have to meet him because he would severely diminish my masculinity.

It will also be nice when your parents can afford another seating option. They have had their eyes on that love seat for a couple of years now.
