Flu Comedy

I got my flu shot this morning.

Flu shot? More like a glue shot!

Boom! Chalk up another zinger for the JLP! By this point, I’m well into the triple digits for well-timed sarcastic remarks. Go back and look at the joke I started with. Did you expect me to say “glue shot”? No, I’ll bet you didn’t. That’s what makes it funny. That’s irony.

Lots of other people have blogs, but mine is the only one that is funny. That’s because I went to college. Think about it. Did Robin Williams go to college? No. As you can plainly observe, that is a perfectly valid and cogent statement.

Need more evidence? Here, I’ll approach the same topic as before, but from another vector:

I got my flu shot this morning.

In the past, the flu and I had an agreement – he didn’t bother me, and I didn’t resist him. Last year though, the flu violated the terms of our agreement when it sent me a carefully-wrapped package of the green apple splatters. I spent many hours last winter locked in the warm confines of my bathroom groaning in agony because of the flu. Let me tell you, the sounds emanating from that room belonged in Jabba’s palace. In response, I have chosen to get innoculated this year. See you in hell, flu.

Again, comedic genius. Don’t bother asking me for lessons, because I wouldn’t know where to begin. It’s mostly instinct. Instinct and college.

  1. Thom says:

Robin Williams *has* played people who went to college. He was not convincing in those roles though.

  2. peter says:

Robin Williams likes to take on roles where he teaches everybody what it means to be a kind, loving, open person. This fact is annoying in no way whatsoever.

  3. tim hopps says:

yeah, like in One Hour Photo.

  4. Know It All says:

Although nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can sometimes accompany influenza infection, especially in children, gastrointestinal symptoms are rarely prominent. The term “stomach flu” is a misnomer that is sometimes used to describe gastrointestinal illnesses caused by other microorganisms.

    I went to college…

Actually, Robin Williams studied under John Houseman in the Advanced Program at Julliard. He and Christopher Reeve were the only students in that program in 1973.
