On my drive in to work this morning, my radio greeted me with the unfortunate news of Roy Scheider’s death over the weekend. The first thing that came to my mind? The Seaquest DSV reunion I’ve been clamoring for is getting a whole lot less likely…
Why do these terrible things keep happening to me?
I am a simple man. I like my sirloin cooked well and my cucumbers dilled into pickle form. Was it too much to ask for a Seaquest DSV feature film featuring the original cast members plus the addition of Ray Liotta as the bad-guy government operative? Am I alone here?
What’s this? Jonathan Brandis hanged himself in 2003? What the hell is going on here? Is the DSV cursed?
Who would have guessed that two prominent members of Seaquest DSV would have passed away before ANY of the Golden Girls? If anybody were going to hang themselves, I would have thought Rue McClanahan would have by now.
What a terrible week this is becoming.

Man. You are so right. I am sad.
Very sad. “Jaws” is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Never saw Sea Quest, but I do remember all the promos during the time it ran.
As if Mondays weren’t depressing enough.
Thanks Peter.
Kevin hasn’t posted yet. It is sure to get worse.
i remember when i was a kid and Jaws came out. we all piled in the car and headed to the theater. when we got there, there was a sign in the window that said “Jaws… $2.50″. my dad was in an uproar… “$2.50?? i’m not paying $2.50 apiece for any movie!!” we whined and complained enough so that he changed his mind and got to see it. can you imagine thinking $2.50 was an outrageous ticket price? anyway, we all loved it and it is still one of my all-time faves too.
(how’s that for a wholesome, clean, not sarcastic, not even trying to be funny, mundane type of comment?)
obviously they found stuff down at the bottom of the sea that changed them for the rest of their lives. was it shame? we may never know for sure.
Remember Jaws 3 where they were at an amusement park and the shark, which ended up being the size of a nuclear submarine, got into the cove and past the nets? That was so awesome when it ate the people while they were on the skiing pyramid. Water is such a great place to live in and around!
“Beneath the Surface Lies the Future” indeed.
Ted,
I also own that one yet have never watched it in it’s originally intended 3-D format.
I just ike to laugh at the cheesy effects and at Lea Thompson.
Brandis is just sad that he could never live up to Wesley Crusher.
I had the biggest crush on Wesley Crusher growing up.
