There are two popular theories as to why the "lost" scene in which Tom H proposes to Maren Q was never aired:

1. Karl Q was so violently opposed to Tom H proposing to Maren, even in a make-believe scenario, fears for Tom's safety led to the scene being scrapped. Beefed up security on-set was discussed, but was not approved by budget overseers.

2. The Rock TV crew hatched a conspiracy to offer Tom a small part in the film to get him to allow them to film the "card game" scene in his basement. Then, after the scene had been filmed, they came up with the preposterous excuse that it would have been difficult to find 15 cats and have them all sit still and cooperate while filming the scene.

Yeah, we cut out a scene from "Rold Gold" where Tom Hipps was about to propose to Maren Q, but then spotted the fact that she owned 15 cats. Funny idea, but (needless to say) difficult to arrange and shoot.

Mattress Police has a couple funny elements (i.e. cops taking off their shoes when they enter the house), but it's mostly a script-less meandering through worn out ideas that devolves into chaos by the end. Production values are pretty good for an old Rock TV though.

Man that open scene in Fields of Rold Gold was WAY too long. Was Maren's scene the one that got cut? I like how we had to do a "special thanks" to all the women that subjected themselves to the embarrassment of being in a Rock TV.
