Meat Flop!
My lesson learned from last night: recording the sound of wet meat flopping is problematic.
I suppose at some point there are lessons we all learn. It is better to give than to receive. A penny saved is a penny earned. If you’re going to try to capture the sound of rancid meat flopping, then be ready to spend a few hours doing it.
An explanation may be in order. I’m part of a video production group called Rock TV, and for the video we’re currently working on, we needed to create a few sound effects to punch up a couple jokes. We sought to harness the timeless sounds and essence of meat - something akin to a 6 inch stack of rotten ham slices being slapped onto a plate.
Some of the sounds we created were too thuddy, some were too juicy, some not disgusting enough. Finally, after a few hours of arduous work, we had our breakthrough. The perfect Meat Flop had been created.

I’m very interested in your work with meat flops. I’ve tinkered around with similar noises myself, though I perform the noises myself a cappella, that is, without the accompaniment of instruments, including meat. I’m hoping to go professional with this, performing live vocal stunt work for theater or even in Hollywood one day. So far I’ve mastered “knock on the door”, “picking a flower”, and “knock on the door - angry version”. Of course I can do lots of other noises, I just haven’t polished them up yet. Anyway, I’m glad to see that someone else is thrilled by the intricacies of sounds that objects make.

Remember, to make a punch in the face sound, fasten to steaks to wooden boards and slam them together.
